Accessibility statement

How this site was tested, with the results.

This site aims to meet WCAG 2.2 level AA. It is a concept project and the church is fictional, but the tests below were run on this site.

Test results, October 28, 2026

Automated and scripted checks, run after the October 28 redesign and the photo update
CheckResult
axe-core (WCAG 2.0 and 2.1 A and AA, plus best practices)0 violations on 14 pages, at phone and desktop sizes, plus the search page with results and with no results
Lighthouse accessibility (3 pages: home, sermons, visit, phone profile)100 on every page tested
Lighthouse performance95 to 100; the home page is the heaviest because of its photos
Lighthouse best practices100 on every page tested
KeyboardSkip link is the first stop and every stop shows a visible focus ring
Reflow at 320 and 640 pixels wideNo horizontal scrolling
Text spacingNo clipped text
StructureOne h1 per page, no skipped heading levels, every page has a title and description, every image has an alt attribute (empty for decoration)
Page weightAbout 285 KB or less for any page, including images. The search page loads the search engine when you search, about 190 KB more

Search

Search runs in your browser using Pagefind, with no data sent to a server. The search box and the section menu have labels, the result count is announced to screen readers, and results are a list of links.

What was fixed during testing

  • The month labels in the date circles were too faint against the dark red. They are now lighter.
  • A decorative glow behind the home page headline made the page scroll sideways at 320 pixels wide. It is now clipped.
  • Date circles are excluded from search results, so results do not show text like "Nov5".
  • Cover pictures for sermons and posts are decorative and hidden from screen readers. The photos on this site are computer-generated for the concept. They are not real people, customers or places.
  • The photos were resized to about twice the size they show on screen, which brought the home page performance score back up.

Not yet tested

  • Manual screen reader testing (VoiceOver, NVDA), including the search results announcements. This statement will be updated when it is done.
  • Lighthouse "SEO" shows 60 to 63, not 100, because the site is deliberately marked noindex so search engines skip this concept project.

Tools: axe-core, Lighthouse 12, Pagefind, and Nest Co.'s own scripted checks.
